Super easy entryway table to build for small spaces

Today I’m going to share our entryway makeover, which includes a super easy entryway table that you can build for small spaces. We have an open concept, so this entryway table really helps ‘breaks up’ our family room/entryway area. You only need a handful of materials for this build, and can have it built and in your home ready to be styled in a few hours. If you choose to paint instead of stain, then even sooner.

We have been staring at unfinished drywall in our entry for months now. I can’t think of a diy I despise more than drywall. It’s not an instant gratification project. Between the taping, mudding, and sanding it’s overwhelming. So instead of doing all of those things, I decided to make this project as simple as possible. I opted for board and batten along the center tape line, and vertical slats under the top board.

This is what the wall looked like prior to starting our project. The tape line right above the light switch was my starting point for this vision.

The first thing I did was run to Home Depot to grab some standard 1x2’s, 1x4 primed board, and a 5.5 inch pine board for the baseboard. The finishing touches for the wall included caulk and paint!

Now onto the table. I wanted a waterfall type table, with a goal of making it semi match our dining room table since they’re pretty close to one another. Unfortunately my favorite stain color was discontinued, so this was a trial and error moment. However, I think I locked down the color perfectly.

Here is an easy rendering for the do it yourself entryway table.

How to make this entryway table:

  1. Grab 4 4x4x8 pieces of wood from Home Depot.

  2. We used our miter saw to make our cuts.

  3. You’ll cut your side legs first off the ENDS of the 4x4 boards, and use the remaining center piece for the top of the table. You’ll notice from the rendering above, we cut our side legs at 30 inches high. This is a standard height for an entryway table.

  4. Our top pieces are 66 inches.

  5. I opted for a center support along the bottom, which is your last 4x4 cut.

To assemble we used these brackets ,these mending plates and construction screws.

Here’s how the table turned out once it was built, stained, and placed in our entryway!
