Fire pit backyard idea
This weekend we were able to spruce up our firepit area in the backyard. We've been dreaming of a design for awhile, and it felt so great to finally execute it and bring it to life. We started with a few materials from The Home Depot to make this happen. Today I'm going to show you a fire pit backyard idea featuring Tiki Brand Firepit and Tiki torches.

We wanted to use materials we already had on hand to cut down on the cost. We had a few of these pavers on hand from Home Depot, and decided that this firepit design plan would only require 15 additional pavers. Not too bad. Here's what we used for this landscaping plan.

Aside from the materials, we also wanted to incorporate some new products around our firepit area. Here's what we purchased.

The design:
The first thing we did was decide what kind of shape we wanted around the firepit area. We have alot of modern lines in the backyard, so we thought we would switch it up and go with round.

Now that we had the shape we wanted, we formed the pavers to make a round firepit area. Next we removed all the grass we could see, making sure to remove the entire root. Once the grass/roots were removed from the circle we put down our cardboard. The cardboard will smother all of your weeds. It also breaks down so eventually you'll just be left with rich soil and zero cardboard.
Avoid this mistake:
We made the huge mistake of using landscape fabric as opposed to cardboard on the landscaping in the front of our home. Needless to say, we've picked weeds once a week, and it's a pain. Hashtag, regrets.
Back to the firepit area. After our cardboard was put down, we grabbed our hose and wet it down. This allowed for an easier work space, forcing all corners to lay flat while we were moving in rocks.
We purchased three tons of rocks for the inside of the firepit area. We wanted something heavy, substantial and affordable. Using this wheelbarrow, we were able to move all of the rocks from our driveway to the firepit. Scot has two grills in the back that used to just sit in a mud pit every time it rained. Since we had leftover rocks we decided to grab some landscaping edging and create a rock area for the grills.
For seating we used our DIY outdoor chairs and these Trex rocking chairs. Here's how the firepit area looked once it was all complete!
